Rotating Shelter

January 2 - 16, 2023

Join us in making First Pres the warmest place in town for our guests!

For two weeks in January, our church home will become the overnight home for up to 20 men who otherwise have housing challenges.

Volunteer opportunities are available!

Morning Driver: transport guests from FPC to the breakfast location.

Evening Host: Welcome guests to FPC, conversation as arises; maintain snacks/beverage table.

The Longest Night

This season is especially hard for those grieving, uncertain, facing illness, or feeling melancholy during the holidays. For these reasons, First Pres offers a special “Longest Night” service on December 21, at 7:00 pm. Join us in sharing and hearing prayers, scripture, and music that acknowledge that God’s presence is for those who mourn, for those who struggle - and that God’s Word comes to shine light into our darkness.

Nativity Service

Children and youth lead in the retelling of the Nativity story. This service is wonderful for all ages to enjoy as the mystery of the story comes to life. An outdoor cocoa bar precedes the service, and all are encouraged to bring gifts of adult-size new winter socks, hats, gloves, and underwear to benefit our friends in need at Alpha House, SOS Community Service, and Shelter Association-Delonis Center.

Christmas Poinsettias

If you wish to donate a poinsettia to beautify our December 18 and December 24 worship services, the cost is $15. You can donate in memory or honor of a loved one. Poinsettias will be delivered to those in need by our Deacons following those services. Thank you for your donation!

Maurice Durufle's Requiem

First Presbyterian Chancel Choir and Chamber Orchestra will perform an All Saints' Concert of Duruflé’s beloved Requiem and Five Variants on “Dives and Lazarus” by Ralph Vaughan Williams on Sunday, November 6, at 3:00 pm.
Unlike other Requiems, Duruflé wrote a peaceful, quiet, reflective mass for the dead that focuses on images of heaven rather than hell. With melodies derived from Gregorian chant, Duruflé’s Requiem is moving and contemplative.
