Maurice Durufle's Requiem

Sunday, November 6, 2022
3:00 p.m. | Sanctuary
First Presbyterian Chancel Choir and Chamber Orchestra will perform an All Saints' Concert of Duruflé’s beloved Requiem and Five Variants on “Dives and Lazarus” by Ralph Vaughan Williams on Sunday, November 6, at 3:00 pm.
Unlike other Requiems, Duruflé wrote a peaceful, quiet, reflective mass for the dead that focuses on images of heaven rather than hell. With melodies derived from Gregorian chant, Duruflé’s Requiem is moving and contemplative.

As an avid collector of English folksong, Vaughan Williams' Five Variants on "Dives and Lazarus" is a composition based on the traditional English folk ballad that tells the new Testament story of the rich man and the beggar.

Join us for this special free concert in the glorious setting of First Presbyterian Church. A love offering will be collected for the Sacred Music and Fine Arts Fund.
