Food Gatherers is the main supplier of food to local food banks in Washtenaw County. The Covid-19 pandemic continues to create a “perfect storm” of increased demand for food and declines in donated food. As we are fed at the Lord’s Table, we also come to feed others and lend support to our neighbors in need. Non-perishable food may be placed in the bin provided in the Social Hall on Sundays, and on Monday–Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Fridays 9:00 a.m. –12:00 p.m. outside of the Memorial Garden entrance. Financial gifts may be made by check or online. Personal Care items are of particular need since they cannot be purchased with Bridge Cards. The most needed food items include low sodium soups, canned meats and vegetables, pasta, rice, cereal, oatmeal, granola bars, nut butters, jelly, baby food and formula, and Ensure or other nutritional supplement drinks. The most needed personal care items are diapers, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, and disposable razors.

On the first Sunday of each month, we are fed the bread of life and offered the cup of blessing by the wide welcome of Holy Communion. On every other day of each month, First Pres turns that gift around as we feed people in our Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County community from our abundance. So, feed your neighbors and bring your donations of non-perishable food to First Pres.
Drop off bins are also available outside by the Memorial Garden entrance during regular church hours: Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Financial donations may either be mailed to the attention of Finance Manager Anna Miller, or may be dropped off at the church during regular church hours: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. Checks should be made payable to First Pres with the purpose noted on the memo line: Food Offering.
