Choral Cabaret this Saturday

On Saturday night, May 9, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. the Chancel Choir will present "Cabaret!" in the Social Hall as a fundraiser for the music ministry. This lively and entertaining evening will feature the choir, soloists, instrumentalists, and children as you've never heard them before! Seeking Young Musicians

On Sunday, April 26, First Presbyterian will hold its first annual Young People's Concert at 12:15 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Nurturing young musical talent has always been important to the music ministry at First Presbyterian Church. Our first, hopefully annual Young People's Concert has been designed to showcase the talents of First Presbyterian's budding musicians, ages 8-18. We welcome a wide variety of musical instruments and disciplines, including pianists, vocalists, string and wind players, and jazz musicians.

Pergolesi's Magnificat to be sung at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. services December 21

On December 21, at the 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. services, the Chancel Choir, soloists, string ensemble and organ will present Mary's stirring words, the Magnificat, set by 18th century Italian composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. Hundreds of composers over the centuries have put Mary's words to music, and we have heard many of them in our church. This particular setting in is both charming and powerful. Pergolesi lived only a short time (1710-1736) and wrote church music (we have also sung his Stabat Mater on good Friday several times) and operas.
